For me being an artist means freedom of expression. It gives me a sense of creativity and allows me to be transported into places otherwise unknown. My sense of observation to details is very developed, to the point that it often surprises even me. When I was younger everything had to be perfect and in its place, now that I am more mature even the chaos of my studio inspires me.

The Morning After – Acrylic on Canvas – 16 X 20 – 250307
One particular party proved to be just a little too much as upon awakening reality sets in and life must go on.
Yzabelle was born and grew up in Montreal, studying art in various school programs. She started her career as a fashion designer after graduation from the Cotnoir Cappone School of Fashion Design.
Yzabelle has studied with various B.C. and U.S. instructors, is a graduate of the Alan Edwards School of Fine Art and was elected AFCA with the Federation of Canadian Artists in March 1995. Four years were spent as the coordinator of volunteers at the Federation gallery on Granville Island. She was a board member at the Surrey Art Center from 1993 – 1995 and taught sketching, and painting for Surrey Parks and Recreation for 5 years before coming to the Sunshine Coast.
Moving to Sechelt in 1989, she spent 4 years instructing art for the Sunshine Coast Regional District before opening her own studio where she teaches a variety of classes. Her work has been shown in many galleries around British Columbia.
In the process of creating art she loves to explore and experiment with all water based mediums, building colour and texture, allowing the image to make itself known, always shifting from chaos to order as the painting evolves.

In the process of creating I love to experiment and integrate multiple mediums, always taking care of colors, contrast and texture. In some of my paintings I’m interested in showing the forces of nature in symbolic form rather than an actual form. Within my work I attempt to evoke a sense of mystery and invite the viewers to interact by becoming a part of the continuing creation.
